Get to know me
Welcome to my blog! My name is Yazmin and I'm originally from Aguadilla but I spent 90% of my life in New York state. I moved to New York when I was 9 months old and moved back to Puerto Rico a few years ago. I lived in various parts of New York State but the most unusual was a small prison town named Dannemora. That was where I first went to school and where I first learned English and forgot Spanish. After a couple of years there I bounced around and settled for 10 years in Spring Valley, New York. After graduating from high school, I went to SUNY New Paltz for Biology; I wanted to be a geneticist. After discovering how much I hated chemistry I switched my major several times until I landed in Economics and Business Administration. Just before finishing my degree in Economics and Business Administration I started working as a Manager for a Marriott hotel near the school. I found myself working all the time and didn’t have the chance to finish school. About 3 years into the job I decided that industry was not for me. I was convinced by my parents to move back to Puerto Rico and start again or finish my degree. The UPR did not accept enough of my NY credits so I decided to do another B.A. in Education. I’ve always been the one to help others out and I come from a long line of teachers. I’m currently at the home stretch of my B.A. and have plans to complete my Masters degree right after. Once I’m done with that I’m not sure if I’ll continue for a PhD, or if I’ll start working as a teacher in a nearby school. What I do know is I want to get married and start a family within the next 3-4 years. Like my mother says, “Yazmin, you’re not getting any younger.”Well duh, none of us are. All and all I've had a good life and I'm just trying to enjoy the ride before it’s all over.
